Step 1: Divide the intestine with a stapler device.

Step 2: Move down the small bowel from the division of Step 2 for about 3 feet and bring this part of the small bowel up to the proximal small bowel from the Ligament of Treitz. Prepare the bowel to be stapled together.

Step 3: Staple the two pieces of small bowel together.

Step 4: Create the small gastric pouch using a stapler. Here the first staple line is placed across the stomach, about 2 inches from the junction of the esophagus with the stomach.

Step 5: Continue dividing the stomach upwards to create a new stomach about the size of an egg. The staple line is continued in Step 7.

Step 6: The final staple line is placed dividing the stomach. The bypassed stomach is not removed but left in place.

Step 7: The end of the small bowel is drawn up to the new small stomach pouch and stapled.

Step 8: Final appearance of the new stomach and its attachment to the small bowel.

Suggestions for Improving RealPlayer Performance

Sometimes RealPlayer is setup to receive clips faster than it can receieve them. You can change the connection speed within Real Player:

  • In RealPlayer, click Tools and select Preferences
  • In the Category pane, click Connection
  • Under Bandwidth, set the Normal drop-down list to one level below the speed of your modem.
NOTE - If you are not sure of your connection speed, click the Test Connection button instead. This automatically sets your connection speed.
  • Make the Maximum drop-down list equal to your modem speed and Click OK.

  • In the Category pane, click General and then Playback Settings. Check "Instantly play web-page media links instead of downloading them." Click OK.
