Freshman Students: As an incoming freshman, you are not required to take the Math Placement Test. Your SAT score (or ACT score if you did not take the SAT) will determine your math placement. If you wish to challenge your math placement based on your SAT or ACT score OR receive credit for mathematics, then you may contact the Testing Center to schedule to take the COMPASS Math Placement Test. If you have transferable college math credit (Math for Critical Thinking, Statistics, College Algebra, PreCalculus or Calculus), then you are not required to take the Math Placement Test.
Institutional credit for MATH 162M and 163M may be awarded with qualifying scores on the COMPASS Math Placement Test. You can visit this math help site http://www.purplemath.com prior to taking the COMPASS test.
